 Annual canvass 2026 begins in Elmbridge: Don’t lose your voice
We have launched our 2026 annual canvass, running from July to December, to ensure the electoral register - the official list of people who can vote in elections and referendums - is accurate and up to date.
 Then and Now - Step back in time with a new Elmbridge Museum photography exhibition
Residents can discover how Elmbridge has changed over the years in a new exhibition, Then and Now: Elmbridge Through Photographs.
Compiled of photographs submitted by Elmbridge Borough Council staff celebrating the Museum's 52nd anniversary, it will run from Wednesday 16 September to Sunday 4 October at Riverhouse Barn, Walton on Thames.
 Bin collection delays
Currently there are some delays to waste collections in Elmbridge due to pressures impacting disposal arrangements.
Crews are working extra hours to catch up, so please leave bins out as collections will take place as soon as possible, though schedules may vary.
If your bin hasn’t been collected, please leave it out, including over the weekend, and crews will return as soon as they can.
 Stay water aware during the summer
The Be Water Aware campaign highlights the dangers of open water as warmer weather encourages more people to spend time near rivers and lakes.
While cooling off by the water can be tempting, especially for young people during school holidays, rivers can be dangerous due to cold temperatures, strong currents and other hidden risks. Parents and carers are encouraged to talk to children about water safety, how to respond in an emergency and where to find lifesaving equipment.
Residents are also encouraged to read the campaign’s safety advice and take part in local water safety events run by the Fire and Rescue Service and RNLI.
 Stay safe in extreme heat
Hot weather can be dangerous, especially for the very young or very old or those with chronic health conditions. We have advice available on our website on how to look after yourself and others in extreme heat.
 Parking refund scheme
Customers can now apply for a refund if they were incorrectly issued parking fines in some council car parks.
The issue affected car parks in Esher, Cobham, Hersham, Walton-on-Thames and Weybridge.
What you need to apply:
- your name and contact details
- your vehicle registration number
- proof that you paid the parking fine
- your bank details so we can pay your refund
Please apply for a refund for an incorrectly issued parking fine using the online form or if you cannot apply online, call us on 01372 474 474.
