 The Love Elmbridge Awards 2026
The Love Elmbridge Awards are open for voting from 1 to 31 July 2026, giving residents and visitors the chance to support their favourite independent businesses across the borough.
The awards celebrate local shops, cafés, restaurants, salons and other businesses that go above and beyond for their customers, with winners to be announced in September. Businesses are also encouraged to promote the awards and engage their communities.
 Free swimming sessions this summer with Places Leisure
Following the success of previous free-swimming initiatives, we are pleased to offer free swimming sessions for eligible children during summer 2026 at Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex and The Hurst Pool.
 Bin collection delays
Currently there are some delays to waste collections in Elmbridge due to pressures impacting disposal arrangements.
Crews are working extra hours to catch up, so please leave bins out as collections will take place as soon as possible, though schedules may vary.
If your bin hasn’t been collected, please leave it out, including over the weekend, and crews will return as soon as they can.
 Journey through sound, scent and Surrey's rivers this autumn
The Royston Pike Lecture Series returns to Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre this autumn, featuring:

2 September – The Quiet Ear with poet and author Raymond Antrobus.

7 October – Sniff: A History of Smells with historian Dr William Tullett.

12 November – Elmbridge River Secrets with author Lara Maiklem and ecologist Dr Lewis Campbell.
All talks start at 7:30pm and tickets cost £4 per event.
 Free summer evening activities for teens at Xcel Leisure Complex
The popular Saturday Night Project returns this summer, offering free activities for young people.
Young people aged 11 to 15 can stay active, meet new friends and make the most of the summer holidays with two exciting evening activities at Xcel Leisure Complex.
 Making our parks even better: Elmbridge’s play area improvement schedule
Find out what’s coming to your local play areas as part of our £4.5 million investment, with improvements planned across the borough throughout 2026.
There are several exciting projects progressing this summer, including improvements at Molesey Hurst, Stoke D’Abernon and Oatlands recreation grounds
 Stay water aware during the summer
The Be Water Aware campaign highlights the dangers of open water as warmer weather encourages more people to spend time near rivers and lakes.
While cooling off by the water can be tempting, especially for young people during school holidays, rivers can be dangerous due to cold temperatures, strong currents and other hidden risks. Parents and carers are encouraged to talk to children about water safety, how to respond in an emergency and where to find lifesaving equipment.
Residents are also encouraged to read the campaign’s safety advice and take part in local water safety events run by the Fire and Rescue Service and RNLI.
 Parking refund scheme
Customers can now apply for a refund if they were incorrectly issued parking fines in some council car parks.
The issue affected car parks in Esher, Cobham, Hersham, Walton-on-Thames and Weybridge.
What you need to apply:
- your name and contact details
- your vehicle registration number
- proof that you paid the parking fine
- your bank details so we can pay your refund
Please apply for a refund for an incorrectly issued parking fine using the online form or if you cannot apply online, call us on 01372 474 474.
