 Parking refund scheme
Customers can now apply for a refund if they were incorrectly issued parking fines in some council car parks.
The issue affected car parks in Esher, Cobham, Hersham, Walton-on-Thames and Weybridge.
What you need to apply:
- your name and contact details
- your vehicle registration number
- proof that you paid the parking fine
- your bank details so we can pay your refund
Please apply for a refund for an incorrectly issued parking fine using the online form or if you cannot apply online, call us on 01372 474 474.
 Changes to planning decisions
At the meeting on 22 July, Elmbridge Borough Council will discuss new government planning rules that are due to come into force on 31 October 2026.
The changes will affect how planning applications are decided across the country, but residents will still be able to comment on applications and local planning policies will continue to be used.
Councillors will also continue to be involved in deciding larger or more complex developments, helping to make sure local views remain part of the planning.
 Bin collection delays
Currently there are some delays to waste collections in Elmbridge due to pressures impacting disposal arrangements. Disruptions may continue for 3 to 4 weeks.
Crews are working extra hours to catch up, so please leave bins out as collections will take place as soon as possible, though schedules may vary.
If your bin hasn’t been collected, please leave it out, including over the weekend, and crews will return as soon as they can.
 Summer conservation work across Elmbridge
Despite the recent hot weather, Elmbridge’s Countryside Team has been working hard to ensure residents can continue to enjoy the borough’s countryside sites safely while protecting and improving habitats for local wildlife.
 Love Elmbridge Awards 2026
Residents and visitors are being invited to show their support for their favourite independent businesses as the Love Elmbridge Awards 2026 open again this summer.
The much-loved annual awards give people the chance to vote for the independent shops, cafés, restaurants, salons and businesses that make Elmbridge’s towns and villages so special.
Voting for the 2026 awards opened on Wednesday 1 July 2026, with residents encouraged to vote for the businesses that go above and beyond for their customers.
 Discover local creativity at Making Space 2026
Residents are invited to visit Making Space 2026, a free community exhibition celebrating the creativity, talent and diversity of artists from across Elmbridge.
