Elmbridge's 2026/27 budget invests in the community
Elmbridge Borough Council has agreed a budget that delivers real, tangible benefits for residents, investing in our communities, supporting those who need it most, and helping our borough thrive.
We are taking positive steps to make everyday life easier, including:
-
Freezing parking charges across all council‑run car parks
-
Introducing a 30‑minute free parking trial in Cobham, Weybridge and Esher, building on the existing offer in Walton‑on‑Thames
-
Reducing town‑centre car park charging hours from 7pm to 6pm, Monday to Saturday (trial from April 2026)
-
Delivering new water play splashpads in Cobham and Molesey as part of a £2 million investment
-
Allocating an additional £500,000 to the voluntary sector to support vulnerable residents facing rising living costs
-
Providing a further £500,000 to households in receipt of Council Tax Support to help with day-to-day expenses.
-
Designating £650,000 to our town and village centres and climate initiatives to accelerate our environmental progress
-
Committing over £11 million in affordable homes to meet growing local demand
Elmbridge's largest single‑year investment in play in years
Elmbridge Borough Council has agreed a Play Strategy Extension (2026 to 2029). This three‑year programme to upgrade and invest in play equipment across the borough will ensure local children and families benefit from enhanced play spaces.
Help shape Walton’s new public mural
As part of our ongoing work to support creativity, celebrate place and reflect local identity in Elmbridge, we’re delighted to be working with Love Walton Business Improvement District and Surrey County Council to help bring a new public art project to life in Walton.
Rollout of food waste recycling collections at flats in Elmbridge
3,000 more households living in flats in Elmbridge are now able to recycle their food waste. These new households join the weekly food waste recycling collections that already take place in the borough, with waste collection crews collecting from over 60,000 households every week.
Parking spaces to let: rear of 26–38a Cobham High Street
We are inviting expressions of interest for the letting of seven newly constructed off-street parking spaces situated to the rear of 26–38a Cobham High Street.
