Elmbridge to benefit from popular on-demand bus service
Surrey Connect is an on-demand bus service, helping people travel around Elmbridge and into Mole Valley, where there are no traditional bus services operating. The service means residents can book a bus for when you need it and utilise public transport.
Working with Surrey Connect, Elmbridge Borough Council has provided permission to use some of our car parks as rest stops between routes.
The new rest stops include:
- Heath South car park, Weybridge
- Mayfield Road car park, Walton
- Civic Centre car park, Esher
Walton Road car park in East Molesey and New Berry Lane car park in Hersham are being considered as future rest stops.
Elmbridge Junior Citizen 2026: empowering young people with vital safety skills
The Junior Citizen programme is a fun and engaging way for children to learn vital safety lessons.
Held at Sandown Racecourse, Year 6 pupils from local schools took part in interactive safety workshops, helping them to build vital life skills and learn how to stay aware, healthy and safe.
An exciting new chapter for Claygate Community Centre
We are thrilled to share that the Claygate Community Alliance has been given the opportunity to take forward the Claygate Community Centre and develop it into a lively, welcoming and inclusive hub for the whole community.
As this transition takes place, they are fully committed to ensuring that existing services, including the support for Dementia Services and the Parkinson’s Group, continue smoothly and are strengthened for the future.
Exploring the effects of WW2 together with St Andrew's C of E primary school
Children from St Andrew's C of E primary school, in Cobham, helped curate the 'Echoes of War' exhibition.
As part of the project, pupils:
- explored authentic WW2 artefacts and archive photographs to learn about life on the Home Front
- examined and discussed a wide range of objects, considering their historical significance
- voted on which artefacts should be included in the exhibition
- produced a personal response to a chosen object, either through a drawing or a written reflection
These individual responses now form part of the exhibition, on display at the Civic Centre until 27 February.
Surrey-wide landlord’s webinar on the Renters’ Rights Act
The Renters' Rights Act will mark a range of important changes for the rental sector including:
- an end to “no fault” evictions and fixed term contracts
- new rules on when rent can be increased
- how properties can be advertised
- fair consideration with regards to tenants owning pets in their rental property
To help landlords prepare, we are hosting a free webinar on Wednesday 11 March, from 6pm to 8:30pm, where residential landlord and tenant law expert, Tessa Shepperson, will be sharing her expertise and taking questions.
 Hurst Pool informative drop-in sessions
Hurst Pool will be closing at the end of March to undergo a full transformation, to turn it into a modern, sustainable and welcoming space for everyone who swims, trains or simply enjoys visiting the pool.
Working with Places Leisure, we invite you to attend one of our informal drop-in sessions at Hurst Pool, where you can explore the plans, learn how swimming provisions will continue during the temporary closure and share your thoughts with the team.
Elmbridge proposes a budget that invests in the community
We are proposing a budget that delivers real, tangible benefits for residents, investing in our communities, supporting those who need it most, and helping our borough thrive.
We are taking positive steps to make everyday life easier, including:
- freezing parking charges across all council‑run car parks
- delivering new water play splashpads in Cobham and Molesey as part of a £2 million investment
- allocating an additional £500,000 to the voluntary sector to support vulnerable residents facing rising living costs
On 4 February, Elmbridge Cabinet approved the budget. It will now go to the Elmbridge Council meeting on 25 February.
