 Flood Action Week 2025
The 13 to 17 October is Flood Action Week and which raises vital awareness of what to do in a flood.
Knowing your flood risk and taking simple steps to prepare can make a huge difference by reducing damage, protecting lives and minimising disruption. The Environment Agency urges everyone to follow official guidance and take simple measures to help safeguard your home, family or business.

Surrey County Council, in partnership with trusted provider iChoosr, is offering two group-buying schemes to help residents save money and reduce their carbon footprint but hurry, registration closes on Friday 31 October.
 Exciting transformation underway at Churchfields recreation ground play area
Work is now underway to refurbish Churchfields recreation ground play area. The improvements will take around 8 to 9 weeks to complete, with the site expected to reopen in mid-November.
The new play area will feature:
- a new sand play area
- a welcoming picnic space
- new play equipment
- new surfacing to improve safety and durability

 Elmbridge Community Wellbeing Grant opens for second year running!
On Monday 13 October, Elmbridge Borough Council, working in partnership with Places Leisure, relaunched the Elmbridge Community Wellbeing Grant.
The grant aims to reduce health inequalities and improve wellbeing for underrepresented and harder-to-reach communities across the borough. It supports projects that promote mental and physical health, particularly in areas with higher levels of inactivity and limited access to wellbeing services.
A total of £12,500 in funding is available, with up to £2,000 available per project.
 Elmbridge community noticeboards in Walton need you!
Did you know Elmbridge has 29 community noticeboards which charities and community groups can use to promote their events and services? Each of these boards is managed by a local volunteer and we are currently in need of new recruits for our noticeboards in Cottimore Crescent and Terrace Road in Walton.

 Elmbridge Climate Change Citizens’ Panel: session four explores housing theme
This session was part of a broader initiative aimed at engaging residents in shaping local climate strategies by developing recommendations to help the council achieve net zero.
 Join The Great Cable Challenge this month
This October, Recycle Your Electricals brings you The Great Cable Challenge, a nationwide call to action to tackle the millions of cables and other electricals sitting idle across UK households.
By recycling these cables and other small electricals instead of holding onto them, the valuable materials inside these electricals such as copper can be reused and recycled into new items including mobile phones, clean energy and even medical equipment!
