See the guidelines for the safe disposal of batteries, nitrous oxide cylinders and disposable barbecues.
These flammable items can cause fires in bin trucks and waste facilities, putting crew members and the community at risk.

The much-loved Royston Pike Lecture Series is back at the Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre in Walton this autumn, with a captivating programme of talks exploring botany, crime fiction and local architectural history.

 Hot weather and heatwaves
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and the Met Office have issued an amber heat-health alert (HHA) for Surrey which is in place until 6pm today, Wednesday 13 August.
Hot weather can be dangerous, especially for the very young or very old or those with chronic health conditions. We have advice available on our website on how to look after yourself and others in extreme heat.
 By-election for the Hinchley Wood, Claygate and Oxshott County Council Division
Surrey County Council are holding a by-election for the Hinchley Wood, Claygate and Oxshott division on 21 August 2025. This by-election is for residents that are registered to vote at an address within the Hinchley Wood, Claygate and Oxshott area only.
