 Surrey Leaders agree on the key principles of an interim proposal for local government reorganisation
Surrey County Council and the 11 District and Borough Councils within Surrey have been working together on the options for local government reorganisation, following the directive from government in February.
While many options have been analysed, the submission to government outlines recommendations around either two or three unitary councils for Surrey.
 Top tips to reduce food waste during Food Waste Action Week
Food Waste Action Week, from 17 to 23 March, aims to halve food waste by 2030 and reduce the 1.7 million tonnes of fruit and vegetables wasted annually in the UK.
Simple changes like making a shopping list, visiting local farm shops and zero waste stores and using reusable bags can greatly reduce food and plastic waste.
 Could you lead our weekly wellbeing walk?
We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to lead our weekly inclusive wellbeing walk along the Thames towpath on Mondays from 11am to 12pm.
This walk starts and finishes at Elmbridge Xcel leisure complex in Walton, with an option to enjoy a coffee afterwards.
 Full weekend closure of M25 Junction 10 and 11
The M25 will be closed between junctions 10 and 11 in both directions from 9pm on Friday 21 March until 6am on Monday 24 March 2025.
The full closure is needed for bridge demolition. If you have to travel, make sure that you allow plenty of extra time for your journey.
 Elmbridge Community Lottery supports local causes
Elmbridge Community Lottery is a weekly lottery that directly supports local good causes and community initiatives. So far, it has raised over £168,000 for local causes operating in Elmbridge.
Groups that have benefited recently are St Paul's Catholic Primary School, Surrey Crimestoppers and Painshill Park.
 80th anniversary of VE Day
The 80th anniversary of VE Day, which marks the end of World War 2 in Europe, takes place on Thursday 8 May 2025. There will be a flag raising ceremony at the Civic Centre in Esher with the Mayor of Elmbridge.
