 Final chance to attend an Elmbridge community meeting and share your views
Hosted by the Leader and Deputy Leader of the Council, the community meetings are your chance to find out what's going on in Elmbridge and ask any questions you have.
The final meetings are on:
- Wednesday 12 March, 7pm to 8:30pm, Civic Centre, Esher
- Thursday 13 March, 7:15pm to 8:45pm, Vital Village, Thames Ditton
These meetings aim to inform residents about the critical issues affecting the borough, including the Local Plan, financial outlook, local government reorganisation, as well as addressing specific concerns impacting individual towns and villages.
 Revitalising our parks and recreation grounds in spring
We are continuing to invest in parks and recreation grounds to offer residents more opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, stay active and connect with nature.
This spring, we are delivering the following projects:
- a new play area in Summer Road, Thames Ditton which is now open!
- transforming the Hersham Recreation Ground basketball court into a multi-use games area
- upgrading the sports court and replacing the outdoor gym with calisthenics equipment in Long Ditton
- opening a new sustainable water play area for Churchfield recreation ground in Weybridge in May 2025
 Elmbridge Cabinet to unveil Enterprise Elmbridge Action Plan
At the March Cabinet meeting, Councillor Kirsty Hewens will present the 2025/2026 Enterprise Elmbridge Action Plan. This plan aims to support businesses and enhance local high streets by:
- launching a new 30-minute free parking offer
- supporting Esher and Weybridge businesses to explore how Business Improvement Districts can improve their trading environment
- continuing to support young people into work and training
- providing green business grants for decarbonisation
- offering business boost grants to 15 independent retailers
 Future-proofing Xcel Leisure Centre with sustainable upgrades
We have been improving the sustainability of the Xcel Leisure Centre as part of our vision to become carbon-neutral, reduce costs and improve accessibility.
These upgrades include LED lighting, a pool cover to conserve heat, a solar thermal system for heating water and the pool, and solar photovoltaic panels with battery storage to power the sports hub.
 Free training for community groups on behaviour change
Are you part of a community group dedicated to creating a more sustainable borough and inspiring others to join your efforts?
Join one of our free online training sessions on behaviour change led by UCL's Climate Action Unit on 17 or 21 March and learn how to encourage behaviour change by sharing positive stories and demonstrating how people can take practical actions.
 Join food author Di Murrell's talk on 13 March
The Royston Pike lecture series hosts food author Di Murrell on Thursday 13 March at 7:30pm at the Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre in Walton.
Di will give an illustrated talk based on her latest book, "Riverfed: A culinary journey down the Thames", sharing her unique experiences working on canal boats and barges across Britain's inland waterways.
