 At the Elmbridge Cabinet meeting on 5 February, Cabinet decided that the approach to devolution and local government reorganisation should focus on the residents in Elmbridge and Surrey.
They agreed that it is best to be in the early waves of the process to maximise any support and influence to ensure the future of services is financially sustainable, and that Elmbridge will work with neighbouring district and borough councils, as well as Surrey County Council, to achieve this.

The Saturday morning event at Cobham Village Hall will have children's activities.
 Elmbridge Partnership Fund announces new grants to support local non-profits
The Elmbridge Partnership Fund, a collaborative initiative by Elmbridge Borough Council, Walsingham Care, and Walton Charity, is dedicated to providing financial assistance to local non-profit organisations that support Elmbridge residents.
With individual grants of up to £5000, the fund aims to enhance the health and wellbeing of vulnerable residents. In response to the latest round of funding applications, the Elmbridge Partnership Fund is proud to announce its support for 17 local non-profit groups, including Elmbridge CAN, Momentum Children's Charity and Princess Alice Hospice.
 Elmbridge's sustainable future: your views matter!
We have climate change plans in place to support our vision of a thriving and sustainable Elmbridge, but we need your input to help shape the plans for 2050.
A climate change survey is now open until Sunday 2 March to gather your views on our climate change priorities for the borough. Your feedback is crucial as it will feed into our Climate Change Citizens’ Panel process which will soon begin.
 Leaders community engagement meetings
We are pleased to invite all residents to a series of community engagement meetings hosted by the Leader and Deputy Leader of the Council in February and March.
These meetings aim to inform residents about the critical issues affecting the borough, including the Local Plan, financial outlook, local government reform, as well as addressing specific concerns impacting individual towns and villages.
Registration for the meetings is now open.
 Free February half-term events with Elmbridge Museum Explorers
To celebrate International Languages Day, Elmbridge Museum is delighted to invite you to their free, fun and interactive ‘Let’s Chat’ workshops for children aged 5 to 11 being held on:
- Monday 17 February at Lower Green Community Centre, 10am to 12pm
- Tuesday 18 February at Walton Library, 10am to 12pm
- Wednesday 19 February at Cobham Library from 11am to 1pm
 Apply for funding to help your community thrive
The annual local Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding round is now open for applications. It will close at midnight on Sunday 16 March 2025.
Successful local CIL applications have included a variety of projects, including improvements to state schools to accommodate an increasing student population, upgrades to community facilities and play areas, improvements to footpaths and better countryside accessibility.
 Have your say on polling places and polling districts in Elmbridge
We are carrying out a review of our polling districts and polling places used for elections in the borough.
We invite comments from all electors regarding the convenience of voting in our polling places and would welcome suggestions for alternative sites.
We particularly welcome the views of disabled residents or organisations with expertise in access for disabled people.
