Are you eligible for Pension Credit and help with fuel bills?
Pensioners are being urged to check if they are eligible for Pension Credit, a weekly benefit to boost the incomes of older people. From this year, pensioners who receive Pension Credit will also automatically receive the Winter Fuel Payment.
The last possible date to make a successful backdated claim to receive the Winter Fuel Payment is 21 December 2024.
Christmas crafts with the Elmbridge museum team
Join the Elmbridge Museum team on Friday 3 January at 1pm at the Hersham Centre for the Community, as they explore the history of fruitcake and its connection to the museum’s collection – as well as some unusual modern traditions.
Children can make an imitation fruitcake pompom and see how far it can travel on a self-made catapult, or have a go at making a replica cake tin to take home.
Wellbeing walks and cycle rides: don’t stay alone this festive season
Our wellbeing walks and cycle rides are a fantastic way to stay active and meet with others over the festive season.
We offer free walks almost every day, including on Bank Holidays, and organise weekly cycle rides across the borough throughout the year. These activities are managed by a wonderful team of dedicated volunteers.
Elmbridge Borough Council Cost of Living funding awards announced
The Elmbridge Cost of Living Fund is thrilled to support numerous charities and community groups within the borough that have successfully secured funding through the third round of our initiative.
Our goal is to provide financial assistance to organisations dedicated to helping residents cope with rising living costs, with a particular emphasis on sustainable solutions.
Woodland management on Stokes Field and Ditton Common in autumn winter 2024-2025
Woodland management works have now been completed at Stokes Field and the site will be tidied up this week. At Ditton Common, the works are ongoing and expected to be completed by the end of December.
While our contractors carry out these important works, they are keeping the disturbance to a minimum and work sites are clearly signposted for everybody’s safety.
Surrey’s first Habitat Bank celebrates key milestone
Wild Capital and Elmbridge Borough Council are pleased to announce a major milestone in Elmbridge’s journey towards enhanced biodiversity in the borough, as Surrey’s first and only habitat bank, located in Cobham within the River Mole Biodiversity Opportunity Area, is now officially listed on the national Biodiversity Net Gain register.
