Warm Welcome venues return to Surrey
Warm Welcome venues are open to all residents this winter free of charge. Whether you are old or young, live alone or with your family, feel like you are struggling or just managing to get by, a Warm Welcome awaits you.
There are currently over 80 Warm Welcome venues across Surrey in a variety of community spaces including community and church halls, libraries and leisure centres. All you have to do is show up.
Come inside, warm up, enjoy a hot drink and receive energy advice, debt support and much more.
New community fund to boost health and wellbeing in Elmbridge
Elmbridge Borough Council, in partnership with Places Leisure, has launched the Elmbridge Community Wellbeing Grant to tackle health inequalities and enhance the quality of life for underrepresented and harder-to-reach groups in the borough.
This fund aims to support initiatives focused on enhancing the mental and physical health of residents. Not-for-profit organisations, sports clubs, schools, community and faith groups operating in Elmbridge can apply for grants of up to £2,000 per project.
Homes for Ukraine Scheme continues: hosts urgently needed
Elmbridge Borough Council is calling on residents to become hosts for Ukrainian families and receive a £600 per month “Thank You” payment.
The war in Ukraine is ongoing, and many families still need accommodation. Since the scheme began, over 300 households in Elmbridge have stepped forward, hosting and supporting nearly 600 displaced Ukrainians.

Elmbridge Borough Council achieves Defence Employer Recognition Scheme bronze award
Elmbridge Borough Council has achieved the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme bronze award, joining 215 other councils across the country.
The bronze award is presented to organisations that pledge to support the armed forces, promote being armed forces-friendly and have signed the Armed Forces Covenant.
Elmbridge Cabinet to decide on sale of Weybridge Hall
At November’s Elmbridge Cabinet meeting, Councillors will be asked to consider the sale of Weybridge Hall to the Equippers Church.
Selling the building to Equippers Church is seen as the best option for community and leisure use.
Funding secured to support young people into employment
Funding has been secured by Runnymede and Elmbridge Borough Councils to help young people aged 18-24 in the boroughs to find a new job, the right training or an apprenticeship.
A total of £54,000 from the Department of Work and Pensions will be used to continue the support for young people through the Elmbridge and Runnymede Youth Hub.
Delivered by Brooklands Technical College, the Youth Hub will equip up to 120 young people with the skills, abilities and knowledge they need to get into work.
Community tree planting at Grovelands recreation ground
You are invited to come to a community tree planting event aimed at enhancing biodiversity at Grovelands Recreation Ground in West Molesey on Saturday 30 November from 10am to 12pm.
We will be planting a variety of young trees to create new habitats for wildlife and make the park more welcoming for residents and visitors.
