Cost of living
The cost of living crisis is impacting communities around the country, Elmbridge included.
We are working to do all we can to help our residents and to enable our partners to help the most vulnerable in our community.
Below, we outline the support available.
Struggling to pay bills?
As the cost of living surges, you may find this affects your ability to pay essential bills. There's a variety of support you can access including: Breathing Space (the debt respite scheme); financial help from Surrey County Council; Help for Households from the UK government; and the Money Navigator Tool.
Home and energy costs
Growing energy prices are impacting household budgets. We offer help with home energy efficiency and have links to energy saving tips, as well as explaining the Energy Price Guarantee and what it means for your bills.
You can also find out more about our housing services including financial support for home repairs and improvements; discretionary housing payments; and advice if you are worried about homelessness.
Mental health and wellbeing
Worrying about making ends meet can take its toll on your physical and mental health. Visit our website for a list of NHS and charity services that can support your wellbeing, including: helplines; psychological and emotional support; practical tips and help; resources; toolkits; befriending services and more.
Charities offering help and support
At the end of October, we were joined by charities, faith groups and voluntary sector organisations for a roundtable discussion on how to further support the Elmbridge community during the cost-of-living crisis, and we continue to work with these organisations to develop long-term support for those who need it.
Charities provide important support and can offer advice on benefits, debt and more.
