Look out for oak processionary moth caterpillars
With young oak leaves growing, we have spotted our first cases of oak processionary moth (OPM) caterpillars. Infested trees by paths are clearly marked.
For your safety, please stay away from them. The tiny hairs on the caterpillars’ bodies can cause skin irritation to humans and pets.
This is how we manage OPM cases:
- We encourage you to report any cases.
- We visit reported sites to carry out a risk assessment.
- We control high risk areas by spraying or removing nests manually, where appropriate, and manage low risk areas through on-site information.
New exhibition paints the lives of people in isolation during the pandemic
The Elmbridge Museum has worked in partnership with local arts organisation 'It’s Not Your Birthday But' on a project highlighting the lives of people in isolation throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
As part of the project, residents gave a series of interviews and had their portraits painted by local artist, Erika Flowers.
You can discover the portraits and read the interviews in the online exhibition entitled 'Nothing about us without us'. The portraits are also on display at the Civic Centre in Esher until the end of September 2022.
 Improvements to M25 junction 10
Upgrading this stretch of road starts this spring and will provide vital improvements to safety and reliability. At the same time, this scheme will involve some of the most extensive environmental mitigation ever carried out by National Highways, with over 40 hectares of land being used to replace the 14 that are needed to improve the junction.
