Landmark moment for multi-million-pound Sidmouth and East Beach Coastal Defence Scheme

With the supplier now in place, the Sidmouth and East Beach Coastal Defence Scheme will move into the detailed design stage. This phase will include further technical work, and continued engagement with local residents, businesses, and stakeholders, to help shape the final proposals. 
Devon chosen for world-leading Extreme Environment Centre
 Devon has been selected as the location for the £150 million NauteXe Extreme Environment Centre (NEEC), a nationally significant facility planned for Exeter Science Park within the Exeter and East Devon Enterprise Zone. The centre will allow organisations to test technologies in realistic simulated conditions, from the deep ocean floor to offshore wind installations and space environments, helping to reduce the cost and risk of live-environment trials.
Expected to be completed in 2029, the facility is forecast to generate more than £270 million in direct economic impact for the region, rising to more than £500 million when wider supply chain benefits are included. The project is expected to attract investment, support highly skilled jobs and strengthen the South West's position as a centre for innovation, research and advanced technology.
Coastguard Rescue Team advise extreme caution following a person and a dog falling from cliffs

The Coastguard Rescue Teams from Exmouth and Beer were called out to two incidents at Sandy Bay this week. A dog slipped from its harness, went over the cliff edge, and was recovered unscathed.
Thank you to the Coastguard Teams, ambulance, Devon Air Ambulance crews, and Haven staff, who helped with the recovery of a person who fell from the cliff. The person was airlifted to hospital.Â
Please keep back from cliff edges as they are extremely unstable.

 For RNLI lifeguards, keeping you safe at the beach isn’t just about rescues. It’s about knowing all the hazards in the local area, sharing safety advice, and intervening before someone gets into danger.Â
In their 25th anniversary year, we are proud to support RNLI lifeguards and their incredible lifesaving work. Special thanks to the RNLI South and East Devon lifeguards who patrol the beaches at Exmouth, Sandy Bay and Budleigh Salterton.Â
Planning application submitted for proposed development near Crealy and Clyst St George
A planning application has been received for a proposed development of up to 2,000 homes on land between the A3052 and the A376.
As part of the planning process, the council consults with a range of organisations and stakeholders. The public are also invited to view the application and submit comments.
