New access improvements at Beer Beach

Around 150 metres of new matting has now been laid on Beer Beach. Made from recycled plastic bottles, it replaces a wooden trackway that Beer Sailing Club maintained for 15 years.
This improvement will benefit all beach users, including people with accessibility needs and those moving boats around the beach. It will make it easier for more residents and visitors to enjoy this beautiful part of East Devon, while also supporting local businesses by encouraging people to visit and spend time in Beer.
The project was made possible thanks to a generous grant from the East Devon National Landscape Access for All Fund. Thanks to Beer Sailing Club, Beer Regatta, and the council teams who delivered this fantastic result for the community.

On 2 July 2026, the Government announced a temporary extension to licensing hours for licensed premises, (pubs and bars), to allow them to remain open until 5:00am on Monday 6 July 2026. This is to enable customers to watch the live broadcast of England's World Cup last 16 match against Mexico, which kicks off at 1:00am.
For premises holding a Premises Licence or Club Premises Certificate, this means that the usual licensed hours will be temporarily extended. During this period, licensed activities and qualifying club activities may continue until 5:00am, provided they are otherwise permitted by the licence or certificate.
