East Devon summer festival season is upon us, and we hope you have had a chance to begin to enjoy the variety of events on offer. Volunteers are wanted for the Exmouth festival, a free four‑day celebration of live music, arts and family fun by the sea, find out how to sign up below. Other news:

Clyst Valley Trails – Walking and Cycling Map

Clyst Valley Regional Park invites heritage and culture organisations to submit for inclusion in a new map to promote walking and cycling routes, and public transport links to key visitor destinations within the Clyst Valley and immediately adjacent area.

Destinations must be safely accessible by foot or bike, and demonstrate they align with East Devon’s Tourism and Cultural Strategies, and be committed to accessibility and working towards Net Zero.

Out Loud in the Library: live poetry celebrating LGBTQ+ voices

Villages in Action, Libraries Unlimited and Spork! are proud to present Out Loud in the Library, a series of live poetry and spoken events taking place across Devon this summer, showcasing local LGBTQ+ creatives and communities.

Balancing your website's impact and sustainability: Tues 28 July, 10.30am - 11.30am online. HDK will show you how to embed sustainability into your website and practical steps to manage your carbon footprint.

Volunteer opportunity: Exmouth Festival (9 - 12 July 2026) is seeking volunteers to help at the event, collecting donations, handing out programmes and/or helping in the eco area. If you can help even a few hours, please get in touch. Lots of fun, training is provided: festival@exmouth.gov.uk

Join a new community singing adventure. Devon-based theatre company, Four Of Swords, has teamed up with choir leader Ellie Walker. They're looking for local voices to explore folk songs, sea shanties, working songs, and half-remembered tunes of East Devon, for a spectacular new show at Beer Quarry Caves. Joining the project is free, if you'd like to attend the taster session on Sunday 26 July between 3pm - 5pm, at St Michael's Church in Beer, email Sarah@Four-Of-Swords.Com.

Calling artists, creators, and makers! Artists Corner is a dedicated creative space in the heart of Honiton. This special street market offers artists the opportunity to create, showcase and sell their work while engaging directly with visitors and share the creative process. Artist's showcase: Saturday 15 August. Free for artists to attend. Gazebos provided. For more information or to book a space, please contact marketsuperintendent@honiton.gov.uk

Funding opportunities

The Fore: grants of up to £45,000 to help charitable organisations, CICs grow, strengthen and become more efficient or resilient, including covering core costs and capital funding and can be for one to three years. Deadline: 15.07.26

Hugo Burge Foundation: Grants up to £15,000 for creative education, community programmes and individuals. Deadline: 31.07.26

Arts Council England: Creative Foundations Fund (CFF) Round 2 opens for expressions of interest on 13.07.26. EOI deadline: 07.08.26

British Council: Connections through Culture grants up to £15,000 to support creative practitioners, cultural professionals, artists, organisations, festivals, biennials, hubs and collectives to develop and deliver projects across a range of themes and art forms with participating countries. Deadline: 12.08.2026

Grassroots Grants - Groundwork: grants of up to £2,000 to support groups providing vital services in their local communities including cultural activities. Deadline: 01.09.26
