Thank you to everyone who joined us last week at Kennaway House to celebrate National Volunteer’s Week. It was an inspiring evening as we announced the nominees of the ACED Volunteer of the Year award and the winner.

Congratulations to the ACED Volunteer of the Year 2026: Kate Weedon from Poltimore House

Last year's winner, Laura Hewitt from Seaton Museum, presented Kate with a beautiful glass award, created by contemporary fused glass artist, Susan Purser Hope.

June Highlight

Masters of the Universe is now showing at cinemas across Devon. East Devon's historic Beer Quarry Caves served as an official location for the film. It was an overwhelmingly positive experience for all involved and, with the growing trend in screen tourism, the hope is that the ripple effects will continue in East Devon.

Funding opportunities

Devon County Council: Locality Budgets 2026/27. Grants of £10,000 for VSCEs, charities, community groups or businesses to support projects that benefit the local community and support the priorities of Devon County Council’s Strategic Plan. Deadline: projects to be completed and funding spent by 31.03.27

Hall & Woodhouse Community Chest Grants of £300 to £3,000 to help volunteer-led organisations to improve their local area in Axmouth and Beer. Deadline: 12.07.26

Naturesave Trust: grants up to £5,000 for Devon-based organisations for projects based in Devon that use creative approaches to engage young people with environmental issues. Deadline: 25.06.26

Art Fund: grants to support museums, galleries and other heritage and visual arts organisations and their staff, including funding to improve and expand collections, research funding, student grants, and bursaries. Deadline: varies per fund.
