 Many businesses in East Devon are facing increasing challenges in securing commercial space to relocate or grow into.
As well as contacting local agents, businesses can now share their commercial property requirements with East Devon District Council through an online form.

The council's Economic Development team are frequently notified of new commercial land and industrial units coming forward before they are publicly marketed.
By completing our online form, we can act as 'matchmaker' between businesses and developers/landowners. Whether you are desperate for space now, or have growth plans over the next few years, we may be able to support your future needs.

We have commissioned YTKO to deliver free business support across East Devon, fully funded by the council. Work directly with an experienced business advisor who will help you:
- Clarify your business idea or direction
- Build a practical plan to move forward
- Strengthen key areas such as finance, marketing, and operations
- Prepare for funding opportunities where relevant

This short, practical event is organised by the Connect to Work programme and brings together the local support available in East Devon, helping employers reduce recruitment risk, improve retention and upskill their teams, all in one place.
The event is free to attend, with refreshments provided.
We are currently running two small grant schemes for businesses (subject to eligibility):
- Start-ups and entrepreneurs starting a new business can access up to £2,500 through the StartSmart Fund for grants to support early stage growth.
- Business owners planning to sell their business to an Employee Ownership Trust can access up to £2,500 through the Employee Ownership Fund.
Our two main business growth and decarbonisation schemes (the Innovation and Resilience Fund and Carbon Action Fund) have closed. No further rounds of these funds are planned or expected.
