Extensive engagement with Exmouth residents, businesses, and local organisations, have shaped a long‑term vision for the town centre, seafront, and key gateways. With the plan now adopted, work will move into its delivery phase.

Sidmouth seafront paths remain closed

To protect the public from the risk of falling debris and unstable ground, Sidmouth undercliff/ Millennium Walkway remains closed from Jacob’s Ladder to the beach access steps.  Thanks for your patience and cooperation whilst important safety work is undertaken.

Growing partnership to strengthen coastal flood and erosion protection

South West Flood & Coastal has seen great success in bidding for and delivering a multitude of projects, since East Devon District Council joined the partnership with Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole Council in May 2024. Seeing the clear benefits of working together, Dorset Council will be joining the shared service.

Is access to your house narrow? Register your interest in green waste collections

East Devon's Recycling Team are preparing to expand the green waste collection service to include narrow access properties where possible, with a smaller collection vehicle arriving soon.

By completing the short online form, you’ll help the team understand demand in your area. You'll also be updated as the narrow access service becomes available. From grass cuttings to hedge trimmings, we’re here to help you recycle more from home. Thanks for your interest and support.

Thanks to funding provided by Exmouth Town Council, the Maer public toilets in Exmouth are open from Wednesday 1 April to 30 September 2026. 


StreetScene job fair coming to Sidmouth

East Devon is recruiting for a range of operational roles across the district, that make a visible difference every single day. From energising morning bin rounds to keeping our towns and seafronts spotless with litter picking and ensuring our public toilets shine, our StreetScene Team are at the heart of keeping our communities vibrant.

Drop in to the job fair at Manstone Depot in Sidmouth on Friday 24 April 2026 between 10am – 3pm to find out more.

Appointments will be through an agency, but many could lead to longer term placements or permanent employment with the Council. Gap Personnel will be on hand throughout the day to talk through the roles, application process, and next steps.

Join exhibiting artist, Alex Cree, to learn different techniques used to 'measure' a subject and transfer these into a drawing, on Saturday 2 May 2026, 11am - 3pm.

A Bowl of Hot Water by Moby Hill

“Two Women in a Carpark” by award winning poet and writer Selima Hill and artist Moby Hill has opened at Sidmouth’s outdoor art gallery in the Sensory Garden by the Ham. This exhibition presents a selection of the images and text which are brought together in a new book.

There will be a book signing launch on Saturday 11 April from midday to 2pm at Riverside Artspace, as well as Pen & Poetry Workshops on Wednesday 15 and Saturday 18 April 2026.
