StartSmart programme launches to support startups and entrepreneurs
Are you looking to start a business in East Devon, or have you launched one in the last three years?
StartSmart is a new business support programme designed to help aspiring entrepreneurs and startup businesses across East Devon build strong, sustainable foundations from day one.
The programme launches with a free startup event on Tuesday 17 March, 10am–2pm, at the East Devon Business Centre, Honiton (EX14 1SF). Book your attendance here.
The StartSmart launch event will include sessions from expert speakers, stories from local start-ups, and a valuable networking opportunity. Learn how to:
- Identify and promote your unique business brand and make the most of LinkedIn and social media,
- Improve your content creation with a live photography and videography session,
- Learn how to write engaging and entertaining written content for social media,

Hear from other local businesses about their start-up journey,
- Meet and network with other local businesses and entrepreneurs.
Following the launch, applications will open to the StartSmart Fund, offering small grants to eligible East Devon entrepreneurs and start-ups. The programme will continue throughout 2026, with further workshops, one-to-one mentoring from experienced business leaders in partnership with Exeter Innovation Accelerator, University of Exeter and other support opportunities.
