Where does my recycling and waste go?
East Devon residents are outstanding at recycling. Our area is one of the best performing in England, with a recycling rate of around 60%. Find out more about where this recycling ends up, on the Recycling webpages.
After we recycle everything we can, everything else, known as residual waste, goes to the Energy from Waste plant in Exeter, run by Devon County Council. This means that East Devon District Council does not use landfill to dispose of waste collected from households.

Bat monitoring scheme launches in Holyford Woods
The project is being supported by funding held in trust by the Axe Vale & District Conservation Society.
To help guide future habitat management, long-term data is being gathered on which species are using roost boxes at Holyford Woods, how frequently, and in what ways. 12 different species of bats have previously been recorded at Holyford Woods, such as rare species like the Bechstein’s bat and the barbastelle.
