A new report reveals how the South West is now the fastest-growing region in the UK for the Creative Industries. It details how the Great South West is outpacing even London generating £2.7 billion annually through more than 15,870 creative businesses, 35,000 employees, and an estimated 40,000 freelancers.

Budleigh Literary Festival (17 - 21 September): celebrating books by the sea, this five-day event is one of the most respected literary gatherings in the South West, attracting writers, thinkers, and readers from across the UK.

Calling artists and filmmakers: The Box Plymouth is inviting artists and/or filmmakers to apply for their next series of BFI-funded digital commissions. Deadline 14.09.25

Discover Creative Careers is a month-long event this November giving 11 to 18-year-olds insights into careers in the creative industry. Could you help host a young person on a work placement to discover a creative career? Register your interest


Funding opportunities

The Grocers’ Charity provides one-off grants of £5,000 for the arts to UK charities with a turnover of below £500,000. Deadline: 05.09.25

Postcode Local Trust - grants of up to £50,000 to support registered charities and CICs and CBSs in the west of England to enable participation in the arts. Deadline: 08.09.25

Arts Council National Lottery Project Grants - applications for under £30k will reopen mid-September. Applications for £30k - £100k will open by end of September. Touring, Place Partnerships, and Major Projects will open by mid-October. Deadline: ongoing
