We hope you have enjoyed our many vibrant East Devon festivals through the summer - it's not too late to catch the Sidmouth Folk Festival this week! If you're planning a creative project that is in need of some funding, don't forget ACED is offering free places for Cause4 fundraising training courses (deadline to apply is tomorrow) and the application deadline to apply to our Creative East Devon Fund is this Friday.

Free places on Fundraising workshops We are offering 10 free places for ACED Network members on Cause 4’s highly respected fundraising workshops, Sept – Dec 2025, covering topics from application writing and corporate partnerships, to digital fundraising and crowdfunding: view the Cause 4 training courses. Funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

ACED is accepting new applications from young aspiring creatives to join the free ACED mentoring scheme for six months starting in September.

August Highlights
Sidmouth Folk Festival (1 - 8 August) kicked off last week, offering a vibrant mix of folk genres and activities, from ceilidhs, folk dances, and storytelling to Shooting Roots youth sessions and the Children’s Festival.
Sidmouth School of Art are showcasing a trio of exhibitions to celebrate the heritage of Sidmouth’s Folk Festival: 'May Day Madness' by photographer Kyle Baker at Sidmouth Wall Space, photographic exhibition 'A Sidmouth Folk Festival Portrait' by JJ Waller at Riverside Artspace, and his linked installations: 'A SMALL QUIET ENGLISH TOWN' and 'Traditions of Folk' at the Market Square telephone box micro museums.

 Vilnius UNESCO City of Literature: calling applications from writers, illustrators, and literary translators for a one month creative residency in December 2025 in Vilnius, Lithuania. Deadline 15.08.25
Performance Short Film competition: UK film-makers can apply for prizes of £1,500 in the categories of: Best Comedy Short, Best Documentary Short, Best Horror Short or Best Drama Short. Deadline: 20.08.25
Name a new community in East Devon: choose from four possible names shortlisted for East Devon's New Community: Newton Clyst, Willowcrest, Marlcombe, Clysthope. Deadline: 26.08.25
Artist Call: RAMM is looking for two artist facilitator positions to work with young people on an engagement project linking to the Colour exhibition. The creaive outcome will be on display in the café from end March 2026. Deadline 01.09.25
Funding opportunities
Devon Community Foundation will now use their extensive database of previous applicants from community groups and charities to invite those that fit the available funds. If you haven’t applied to DCF before, register now. Deadline: rolling.
Heritage Crafts training bursaries for British military veterans: Apply for up to £4,000 to start training in a heritage craft or to further develop your skills. Deadline: 29.08.25
Amazon’s Regional Creatives Fund UK: grants of £1,000 - £10,000 for charities who already upskill people for careers in the Creative Industries, consortiums can apply for up to £30,000. Deadline: 31.08.25
Theatre Improvement Scheme: Grants of up to £20,000 towards buildings or equipment for projects that help reduce environmental impact including replacement windows, energy-efficient heating, insulation and other projects to reduce energy use. Deadline: 05.09.25
