It was an inspiring evening as we announced the many nominees of the ACED Volunteer of the Year award and the winner. Congratulations to the ACED Volunteer of the Year 2025: Laura Hewitt from Seaton Museum.
A special recognition award for an outstanding contribution to arts & culture was won by Louise Cole from Sidmouth Coastal Community Hub and Sidmouth School of Art
Laura and Louise were both honoured with a beautiful glass award, created by contemporary fused glass artist, Susan Purser Hope.

East Devon VCSE Deep Dive: Writing Simple Business Plans: 17 June 10 - 1 online. Learn how to write a business plan for your voluntary organisation or social enterprise.
East Devon VCSE Support Surgery: 2 July 11 - 4, Kennaway House, Sidmouth. Book a slot at this free surgery for Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise organisations offering experienced guidance for your organisation.
Carbon Literacy training for Museums: 1, 8 & 9 July, online. Course for volunteers and paid staff from Accredited Museums or those working towards Accreditation to gain Carbon Literacy certification.

Funding opportunities
Connections Through Culture Grants 2025: British Council’s Connections Through Culture (CTC) Grants of up to £5,000 or £10,000 to support artistic collaboration between the UK and select countries in Asia, Europe and Australasia. Deadline: 23.06.2025
Health and Wellbeing in Museums Fund: grants of £50,000 to £75,000 to enable the development and continuation of health and wellbeing programmes in UK museums during a time of financial crisis and increasing demand for services. Deadline: 26.06.25 (second round in 2026).
Barchester's Charitable Foundation: grants of £100 - £2,500 for projects run by community health professionals, community groups and registered charities which combat isolation and loneliness and enable older people and adults with disabilities to be active and engaged. Deadline: ongoing.
