East Devon take delivery of new electric recycling lorries

An electric East Devon District Council recycling vehicle

East Devon is one of the first district councils in the country to acquire fully electric recycling vehicles, helping to lead the nation forward into a green future.

The electric recycling vehicles will mainly be used on collection rounds through the growing communities of Cranbrook, Tithebarn, and West Clyst.

The results from the project will help the council gather essential data on the vehicles' performance and battery range in rural areas, providing valuable insights for future fleet replacement plans, set for 2026.

East Devon District Council drives decarbonisation with Carbon Action Fund grants

solar panels being fitted

The council is proud to award Carbon Action Fund grants to 28 local businesses and organisations, boosting their decarbonisation efforts.

Funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the grants supported equipment like solar panels, heat pumps, insulation, and LED lighting, and covered some installation costs. Among the outcomes, the successful recipients aim to save carbon, reduce energy bills, and create jobs (one recipient plans to add six roles by reinvesting savings).
