Have your say on the Exmouth Beach Management Plan Update
Consultation deadline: Monday 10 February 2025 at 5pm.
The Beach Management Plan (BMP) outlines how EDDC will sustainably manage coastal flooding and erosion risks to properties and assets along the Exmouth frontage.
The BMP focuses on maintaining an adequate beach to support existing defence structures and ensuring these defences continue to protect Exmouth.
This is your opportunity to share your thoughts on the proposed options for the long-term future of these defences with the project team.
Councils welcome new Parliamentary step in the journey towards devolved powers
The 'Devon and Torbay Combined County Authority Regulations 2024', a 'statutory instrument' (SI), has been laid in Parliament, paving the way towards the creation of the Devon and Torbay Combined County Authority.
The Regulations will be debated in in the House of Commons and the House of Lords. When they are signed by the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, Angela Rayner MP, under powers delegated by the Levelling-up and Regeneration Act 2023, the Devon and Torbay Combined County Authority (CCA) will come into being.
The CCA will make decisions about the powers and funding devolved from Whitehall to Devon and Torbay through the deal that was agreed in January this year.
Benefit from a free NHS Health Check
Three in five people invited for a free NHS Health Check in the past year did not take up the offer.
Here’s some information about the free NHS Health Check, for adults in England aged between 40 and 74. The Check aims to lower your risk of getting conditions that affect the heart and blood vessels, such as heart disease, stroke and kidney disease. Many of the warning signs such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol, don’t have symptoms.
The NHS Health Check is a free check-up of your overall health. It can tell you whether you're at higher risk of getting certain health problems. During the check-up you'll discuss how to reduce your risk of these conditions. If you’re aged 40 to 74 and do not have a pre-existing health condition, you should be invited to an NHS Health Check by your GP every 5 years.
The check takes about 20 to 30 minutes and you’ll also be asked some questions about your health. You'll usually be told your NHS Health Check results during the appointment. If you are at risk of getting these conditions, you can take action to improve your health - this could include making lifestyle changes or taking medicines.
