Exmouth seawall repairs to begin in March
Works to repair Exmouth’s seawall, after it was damaged by storms last Autumn, is set to begin this month – with an expected completion date in late May – weather permitting.
Original plans, costing an estimated £1.1million in total, looked to start work in early 2024 but were delayed when surveyors reported worse than estimated ground conditions which meant further funding was needed.
New kerbside nappy and hygiene product recycling scheme being investigated for East Devon
It is anticipated the trial, using a test area in East Devon, could start from Autumn 2024 – this is all subject to permits being obtained.
The next steps for East Devon District Council will be to arrange the specifics of the trial and check the data, information, and finances to ensure the proposal is viable.
Play your part to help East Devon’s wild birds
On the Pebblebed Heaths, many birds nest on the ground or in low bushes, which can make them more vulnerable. People and dogs should avoid walking through areas of gorse, heather and other low growing vegetation, because you can easily scare birds or harm their nests.
Work to secure the cliff at Seaton's West Walk underway
A large tension crack has been identified in the cliff, meaning that the earth around it must be removed. Until this work is completed, and the area is made safe, the walkway below will remain closed.
Storm damage in Budleigh Salterton
Recent storms inflicted damage to the kiosk at Budleigh Salterton's Steamer Steps and East Devon District Council is currently considering the best way forward.
The Council is aware of the concerns being expressed about the kiosk's current condition as Easter approaches, and more information about next steps will be reported within the next two weeks.
