Have your say on the first draft of East Devon District Council's Plan 2023-2027 

Have your say council plan consultation poster

The first draft of the East Devon District Council Plan 2023-2027 is now available to read and we’re after your thoughts on it.

The consultation is split into four separate surveys which ask questions based on our four priority areas: housing, environment, economy and core services. Let us know if you agree with our four key priorities or if there is anything crucial that we are missing.

Funding confirmed for improved coastal defences in Sidmouth

Sidmouth from above

The Sidmouth and East Beach coastal defence scheme has been fully approved by the Environment Agency, with £16million of funding from the UK Government.

The £20million project will protect 113 residential and 70 commercial properties from the risks of sea flooding and cliff erosion. East Devon District Council (EDDC) will provide £2.25million of already approved funds, with additional contributions from Devon County Council and other local bodies.

Mayor of Honiton, Councillor Helen Hurford unveils the new Honiton Hippo art work.

A collaborative collage created by Honiton Primary pupils at the Thelma Hulbert Gallery (THG) has been unveiled at Honiton Station, by the Mayor of Honiton, Councillor Helen Hurford.

The project, led by the Friends of Honiton Station, saw the new artwork installed on the inside of the station’s footbridge and a shed on Platform 1.

They’re raising awareness of the need to reduce plastic and man-made waste from entering water streams

This week we’re shining a spotlight on how Tipton St John’s Eager Beavers used a £500 grant from East Devon District Council to build a blossoming community garden.

Need help running a VCSE organisation?

The East Devon Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) Support Service is offering free training sessions for VCSE organisations based in or serving communities in East Devon.

In January 2024 a range of different training will be available including:

'Bitesize' sessions in:

  • Legal Structures for Social Enterprises (online) Thursday 11 January, 10am-11:30am
  • Looking After Yourself in Your Role The Beehive, Honiton, Tuesday 16 January, 2pm-3:30pm

And ‘Deep Dive’ sessions (online):

  • Governance, Policies and Procedures Thursday 11 January, 2pm-5pm
  • Where Does the Money Come From? Monday 15 January, 2pm-5pm
  • Recruiting Volunteers Wednesday 24 January, 10am-1pm
