News and updates:
Councillors endorse Independent Remuneration Panel’s recommendations on member allowances
Blackdown House Honiton
An independent panel have proposed increasing East Devon District Councillors' allowances for the first time since 2008, to a level more in line with similar councils in Devon and across England.
The panel recognised the crucial role that councillors play in shaping the future of East Devon, and in a time when residents are worried about the cost of living, they felt this financial support may allow a more diverse and qualified pool of candidates to put themselves forward to serve their community. The decision to adjust allowances comes after careful consideration, reflecting councillors’ dedication, hard work, the evolving demands of the role, and the challenges faced by local government.

Recycling news
Do you know how to donate reusable textiles in wet weather?
As a textile reuse scheme, rather than a recycling scheme, it's important to keep textiles clean and dry
During times of wet weather, you may wish to hang on to your textiles and put them out for collection in a drier period to ensure they don’t get wet and are reusable.
What textiles can we reuse?
Good quality textiles and shoes, bagged and placed securely in your kerbside green recycling box, will go to The Salvation Army for reuse or sale, which supports people in need.
We are unable to collect duvets, pillows, and cushions, please place those items in your wheeled grey refuse bin or take them to the recycling centre.
For those of you wondering if your textiles or shoes are of good quality for collection, we suggest, that if you ask yourself, ‘Would I buy this from a charity shop?’ If the answer is yes, then please place them out for collection, if no, then please place in your wheeled grey refuse bin, which will then go to the Energy from Waste Facility in Exeter.
