LED Exmouth's indoor tennis courts to be upgraded
Work begins on Monday 7 August to upgrade Exmouth Tennis and Fitness Centre's carpeted indoor courts to cushioned acrylic surfaces.
Tess Findel-Hawkins, Exmouth Tennis and Fitness Centre's Senior Duty Manager, said:
"This new surface will be changing the game on our indoor courts, allowing for a new window of opportunities for our existing customers and aspiring players."
Councillor Paul Hayward, EDDC's portfolio holder for Finance and Assets, added:
"As part of the Council’s ongoing strategy to improve access to such facilities, and encouraging younger people to participate, I am delighted that funding has been made available to allow these courts to be re-surfaced, and that we are taking full advantage of innovative technology to ensure that these facilities deliver for our communities for decades to come."
East Devon flies Green Flags again
In East Devon, Connaught Gardens and Peak Hill Slope in Sidmouth, Manor Gardens in Exmouth, Seaton’s Seafield Gardens and Seaton Wetlands Nature Reserve all received the Green Flag award.
Councillor Geoff Jung, EDDC's portfolio holder for Coast, Countryside and Environment, said:
“We all know East Devon has an abundance of green spaces and this shows the variety and high quality of our green spaces which are a welcoming space for our residents and visitors. These awards are testament to the hard work and dedication of the teams that make them great spaces for everyone to enjoy, particularly our wonderful team of volunteers who assist our Street Scene and Countryside staff each year."

Did you know that you can do team-building and away-days at Seaton Wetlands?
Activities at Seaton Wetlands include pond dipping, stream dipping and tree planting
In a post-pandemic working world many people have moved to a more remote way of working, often spending a lot of time looking at screens. Team building days are a great way of bringing colleagues together and getting to know each other. Seaton Wetlands is the perfect location for this, with activities that connect visitors to the nature on our doorstep.
