 Dogs and adders
If you spot an adder you're lucky! These shy reptiles are in decline in the UK but they are resident on the Pebblebed Heaths. Adders do have a venemous bite, but would much rather escape than have to use their venom. The best way to keep dogs away from adders is to keep Paws on Paths, but if you do suspect your dog has been bitten, contact your vet for advice and limit your dogs exertion, carry them if you can.

 Tick Awareness
Ticks are becoming more common in the UK countryside and can be found in long grass, woods and heathland. Rather than worrying too much about avoiding ticks altogether we've got some advice to share regarding tick removal, prevention and treatment for dogs from the PDSA.
We're also sharing advice for humans too, on how to protect yourself and reduce the likelihood of tick bites, plus some important information on what to look out for if you have been bitten.
