An illustration of how the upgraded Butt's Close play area will look
As part of its ongoing investment in play areas, contractors working on behalf of East Devon District Council have started improvement works at Butt’s Close play area in Honiton.
The work is part of a larger investment project which will see EDDC invest £283,000 in upgrading play equipment and sites across the district.
The work at Butt’s Close is expected to take two to three weeks to complete, after which EDDC will also be upgrading Greenway play area in Budleigh Salterton and the Crescent play area in Exmouth.

Dry weather increasing health and wildfire risks

To reduce the risk of wildfires Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service advises that you👇
- Avoid having bonfires, BBQs or campfires in the countryside, or on any grassland. If you must use a BBQ, place it on something flat which won’t catch alight, such as a stone/paving slabs. Be mindful of sparks and think about the surrounding area. Always keep a large source of water near you to put out a BBQ fire.
- Please take extreme care with how you put out cigarettes and dispose of them.
- Don't drop litter. Glass bottles left on grass are especially a fire risk.

 Recycling News
Do you know how to get rid of plant pots?
We are unable to recycle ‘hard’ plastics such as plant pots from the kerb-side.
You can take your unwanted plant pots to the nearest recycling centre to get them recycled or even better take to a re-use point, many garden centres have these.
Please visit our A-Z of recycling and disposals page on the EDDC website, to find out which plastics you can put in your recycling sack for kerb-side collections.
