Just one week left to register to vote
Registering to vote takes just 5 minutes. Why not do it while you boil the kettle?
To vote in the local elections you must register to vote by Monday 17 April.
If you vote in person, you'll now need voter ID to vote
Head to our website for a full list of valid forms of Voter ID
You've got three options for casting your ballot in the upcoming elections:
1. If you vote in person at the polling station on 4 May you'll need to bring along a valid form of ID. If you don't have any acceptable ID, you can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate. You’ll need to complete your application by 5pm on 25 April to get a Voter Authority Certificate in time for the local elections.
2. If you don't want to vote at the polling station on polling day, apply to vote by post before the deadline of 5pm on Tuesday 18 April
3. Alternatively, you can appoint someone else (a proxy) to vote on your behalf. The deadline for receipt of applications is 5pm on 25 April.
