News and updates:
What do you think of proposals for a second new town in East Devon?
Share your views on proposals for a second new town, being put forward as part of East Devon’s new draft Local Plan.
A ten-week consultation looking for your views on what developments go where for the next 18 years was launched by East Devon District Council (EDDC) on Monday, 7 November.
One of the many big visions being put forward as part of the draft plan is for a new town with up to 8,000 new homes to form a self-contained new community with its own jobs, shops, schools and other community facilities.
The consultation can be viewed here.
Three extra parish councillors will represent Broadhembury next year
The number of parish councillors who represent Broadhembury Parish Council will rise from nine to 12.
The changes take effect on 1 April 2023, ready for the elections for the new parish councillors being held in May 2023.
Local businesses, it's not too late to get involved in our #EastDevonly Christmas campaign
We're asking residents to shop local and support their local businesses, through an #EastDevonly Christmas campaign. On social media, we will feature an East Devon Advent calendar where local businesses could be highlighted. To be considered for the campaign, email Anne Mountjoy with:
- 100-150 words describing your business, how it champions local produce/products, is sustainable or has strong local links and why people should shop locally.
- Send a festive image or short video of your business, products or team.
You can also use our resources online, including using the Nice o’meter in your social media posts. You could post images and short video clips of activities in your local area to promote shopping locally, eg. carnivals, Christmas lights switch on, late night shopping, Father Christmas visiting etc.
We will share all the latest info with local businesses on our Facebook group.
If you would like Christmas window stickers or posters – or you can help disseminate these, please email Anne Mountjoy.
