New one-off community grant scheme launch by East Devon District Council
Grants of up to £500 are now available from East Devon District Council for voluntary, community and other not for profit groups.
The council has set up a one-off Small Community Grants scheme to provide grants to support community-led ideas and initiatives across the area. Applications are sought from groups looking to fund smaller projects, rather than it being a small percentage contribution of a big costly project.
Residents have until 5pm on Monday 14 March 2022 to share their thoughts on East Devon District Council’s Councillor’s Code of Conduct and help shape the new draft document, before EDDC makes any final decisions.
We are currently updating our code, which largely reflects the model provided by the Local Government Association, with limited adaptation to reflect local circumstances.
It is particularly important we get this right, as whilst some Parish and Town Councils will set their own code, others are likely to reflect ours directly.
Much of the code is clear, but there are key areas on registration and disclosure of interests, gifts and hospitality where we would appreciate and value your views.
EDDC has reviewed the Local Government Association’s example of a good code of conduct whilst revising its own. While the law means there are certain aspects in the code of conduct that cannot be changed, the council is seeking views on certain of the areas that can be.
If you need a copy of this consultation on paper or in any other format, email codeofconduct@eastdevon.gov.uk or call 01395 517569.
Should a separate parish council be created for Colyford?
Should Colyford have its own parish council? Tell us what you think in a review being carried out by East Devon District Council.
Anyone living in the area covered by Colyton Parish Council is being asked to share their views on the draft proposals before the deadline at 5pm on Wednesday, 4 May.
Parish councils have the right to collect money from local residents as part of their council tax bill. This money is then spent by the parish council in their locality.
Once EDDC has received everyone’s views it will consider the results of the consultation and publish its proposal in spring 2022. This proposal will then be subject to further consultation.
People registered to vote within the Colyton Parish Council area will shortly be receiving a consultation pack in the post, within the pack will be a short questionnaire inviting residents to have their say.
This proposal was discussed at EDDC's Cabinet meeting on 3 November 2021. You can find out more about this discussion online.
