New rules require you to self-isolate if you test positive for Coronavirus

Self Isolate for 10 days

From Monday 28 September people across England are required by law to self-isolate if they test positive or are contacted by NHS Test and Trace.

If you need to self-isolate you must stay inside your home until you’re no longer at risk of passing the virus on.

That means no trips to the shops, no walks in the park and no meeting up with friends.Financial assistance is available for those who face financial difficulty as a result of an instruction to self-isolate.

Textiles collections have resumed across East Devon

Textiles service to resume

We are pleased to announce that we were able to resume kerbside collections of textiles from green recycling boxes from Monday 28th September 2020. Thank you for your patience during the period we have been unable to collect these items.

As the textiles and shoes you recycle are reused, we need the best quality items you can provide. We also need the items to be securely bagged and put into your recycling box with the lid fitted. This helps keep your donations clean and dry and preserves the value and condition, so they can be reused. It is particularly important to keep these items clean and dry with the wet winter weather we can get in East Devon!

Councillors visit to the Sideshore development in Exmouth

Visit to Sideshore, Exmouth

Cllr Paul Hayward (left in photo) and Cllr Geoff Pratt (right) paid a visit to Sideshore in Exmouth a couple of weeks ago to see how work is progressing on site.  Aiden Johnson-Hugill (middle) from Grenadier Estates showed them around the site, accompanied by colleagues from the Place, Assets and Commercialisation team at East Devon District Council.  They were able to see the excellent progress on site, given the challenges of managing a construction project in 2020.  Aiden also explained some of the measures being taken that will ensure that the building meets its target to be zero carbon.  This includes solar panels, a ground source heat pump, connected 200m below ground level, and the use local natural materials for the public realm area.

The Watersports centre, which is being run by Edge Watersports is due to open shortly, with the rest of Sideshore due to be fully open by Spring 2021.

Exmouth GP Practices provide drive-through flu vaccination service

Exmouth flu vaccination drive-thru service

Four of Exmouth’s GP Practices are working together with East Devon District Council to provide a drive-through flu vaccination service at Maer Road car park, this autumn. This Exmouth seafront car park will be the location for the largest scale flu jab session the area has seen – providing a safe, socially distanced and convenient vaccination service for a large proportion of local people during the weekends of 10th-11th and 17th-18th October – with a further weekend planned in November.

Time is running out for Exmouth residents to vote on how to spend £300,000 available in the town

Exmouth residents who received a letter asking them to vote to decide how to spend £300,000 on sports in the town are being reminded to vote before time runs out. Residents get to decide how the money is spent, so they really can make a big difference!

5,000 randomly selected Exmouth households received a letter from East Devon District Council and Exmouth Town Council in the post at the beginning of September giving them a unique online code. They can use this code to go online and vote for their households favourite projects to create new or improve current sports facilities in the town.

If you received a letter and have mislaid it or recycled it and want to vote, please email jbuckley@eastdevon.gov.uk with your postal address, or call 01395 517569 for a reminder of your unique code, which you’ll need to use to vote.
