Your chance to help shape the future of Exeter over the next 20 years
Residents and businesses are being urged to have their say over the way in which Exeter should grow and develop in the future.
A report to Executive seeks approval for a public consultation on the Outline Draft Exeter Plan – the city’s new Local Plan.
The Exeter Plan will be ground breaking and is the first new local plan for the city in 10 years. It looks ahead over the next 20 years, to 2040, and will be the blueprint that shapes the future development of Exeter.
The plan talks about important issues like climate change, homes and jobs, the future of our high streets, transport and infrastructure and design quality.
Members of the Executive will be asked to approve an eight week consultation, starting on 26 September.

We all need to play a part in the battle against climate change
I’m sure that everyone has enjoyed this summer’s warm weather. It’s important that at times of extreme weather we all need to look after ourselves and check on any neighbours who may need our support - we need to continue to look out for each other.
While we all like the warm weather, it does give us some serious indications about our future and the steps we need to take to tackle climate change.
We are continuing with our policies to get the Council Net Zero by 2030. As difficult as that may appear, we’re on our way - and two significant recent announcements demonstrate this.
Our Solar Farm at Marsh Barton is about to go live. It has 3,700 solar panels and a 1MW battery storage facility, which will be used to charge our fleet of electric vehicles with green electricity we have generated ourselves.
