Fans of the children’s author Philip Reeve are competing for the chance to help host the Q&A session after his 20 October talk at RAMM. Philip Reeve is famed as the creator of the fantasy fiction quartet Mortal Engines. Since it was published in 2001, he has won many literary prizes.

Come and meet scientists from the University of Exeter Optics and Photonics Society. Discover what the science of light and materials reveals about different museum objects. Take part in hands-on experiments and demonstrations. Learn how butterflies get their colours, why emeralds are green but rubies are red and many more natural marvels.

Vibrant, sexy and very much of the moment, Pop Art reflected a fascination with the iconic status of celebrities and brands. See works by Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Patrick Caulfield and Richard Hamilton, as well as contemporary artists whose work is strongly influenced by the Pop Art phenomenon, such as Gavin Turk, Julian Opie and Damien Hirst.

Children’s book illustrator Victoria Byron has created a new book especially for RAMM’s 150th anniversary. Alfie is a sparrow who sits amongst the other birds in the gallery. One night, when the visitors have all left, something magical happens: the museum comes alive and Alfie goes exploring.

Internationally-acclaimed artist, sculptor, writer and film-maker Bedwyr Williams brings his surreal sense of humour to bear on RAMM's Queen Street foyer. After decades of being examined in glass showcases, the objects will have a chance to get their own back by studying the visitors.

Sharing the passions of local collectors: Selected from 3,500 vinyl records to accompany the Pop Art in Print exhibition, the collector is showcasing some record sleeve artworks inspired by the Pop Art movement.
