''Faith Matters...''

In this time of conflicts and mistrust does ‘Faith’ matter?  And, if it does in what way does it matter?  These are interesting questions that Eastbourne’s Faiths Forum will be discussing at their annual inter faith event to mark National Inter Faith Week in November.

“Faith Matters…” takes place on Tuesday 15th November, at 7pm in the Congress Suite, next to Congress Theatre and is being sponsored by Eastbourne Borough Council.  Speakers from a number of faiths represented in Eastbourne will each give a short talk on how ‘Faith Matters…’ to them.

Carolyn Heaps, Eastbourne Borough Council’s Faiths Champion, says ‘‘In light of recent increased reports of Hate Crime it is important Eastbourne stands united.  This is the perfect opportunity to break down barriers and open up respectful communication that builds relationships and strengthens local communities.  Come and join us on 15th November to celebrate diversity in religion, join in our conversations and ask the questions you have always wanted to.’’

The event will also raise awareness of inter faith in Eastbourne providing opportunities for you to ask questions privately or during a question and answer session.  It will provide you with the opportunity to network with local people of different faiths and explore exhibition stands full of free literature for you to take away.  The event is free and open to all; you do not need to practice a religion or belief to attend.

Eastbourne’s Faith Forum was established nearly eight years ago and its members meet in an atmosphere of openness, trust and mutual respect.   The forum works towards inter faith co-operation in Eastbourne, whilst ensuring the integrity of each faith represented is maintained.  For more information please email: equality@eastbourne.gov.uk or call: 01323 415694 , alternatively visit Eastbourne’s Faiths Forum on Facebook.
