We wrote to you on 16 July 2025 about the Multi-Agency Adult Support and Protection File Audit. This briefing provides an update on the audit process.
The audit is a key part of East Ayrshire’s continuous improvement journey in ‘Protecting People’ and an integral part of our multi-agency self-evaluation.

The Multi-Agency ASP Audit Coordinating Group (ACG) has overseen the file audit planning.
An Audit Template has been revised and updated in line with the theme of Learning Disability for this year's audit. Training for file auditors will take place on 29 September 2025 and a sample of 25 files have been selected. Focus group members are currently being identified.
The audit will move into the implementation phase with onsite file reading taking place 7 - 9 October 2025.
Focus Groups will also take place during October 2025.

All Public Protection partners will be involved in the audit, including:
- East Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership (lead agency)
- EAC Housing & Communities
- NHS Ayrshire & Arran including Public Health Department
- Police Scotland
- Scottish Fire and Rescue
- East Ayrshire Advocacy Services

We plan to have draft findings available for Wednesday 12 November 2025 and to have an open feedback session involving those participating in the Audit on Wednesday 19 November 2025.
