As part of our contribution to support the Mauchline Holy Fair this year we donated funds to the Mauchline Community Council. This money was allocated towards their purchase of this years hanging baskets.
Darran, our Project Officer, helped the Mauchline Community Council install the baskets in time for the Holy Fair.
We would like to thank all groups and individuals involved in organising this and furthermore the maintenance of these. We thought they looked great this year adding a burst of colour across our main streets.

In collaboration with Mauchline Community Council we recently submitted a bid for additional funding from the Renewable Energy Fund.
The funds are planned to support the manufacture and installation of some additional street furniture around the village.
We are very happy to share with you that we have been successful in our application allowing us to progress with this project. The works planned include:
- Six new benches, bespoke designed for Mauchline and to be installed in and around the village.
- New planters at The Cross and the rear of Loudoun Street Carpark
We would like to thank all parties involved and also to thank the Renewable Energy Fund in their support of our project.

A key factor into the successful operation and completion of any CARS is the voice and direction of the community.
Our Mauchline CARS Steering Group comprises members of our local community, some of whom also support other local groups.
As our project enters a new phase of its journey, with the start of works to grant applicant's properties, we would like to invite more people to join our group.
As a member you are required to attend bi-monthly evening MS Teams meetings.
During these meetings we share an update on the project to date, consult with our members on matters currently being reviewed and ask our members to share their views and feedback on any matters arising.

4 Loudoun Street, Ninety Eight Take Away, our first Shopfront improvement scheme has been progressing well lately.
The new timber shopfront has been installed - it's looking great in its Heritage Fir Green paint.
Brass hardware will also be added, together with a traditional hand painted sign.
Further finishes will be added to the frontage and stone repairs are still to be completed.
So these pictures are a "before and during" - we can't wait to share a "before and after" of this one. what do you think?
If you have any thoughts feel free to share them on:

In spring we collaborated with Archaeology Scotland to delivery a program of Educational and Community Engagement Projects. These included:
- Historic building recording
- Graveyard survey
- Archaeological excavations
All the projects were well received. A group of students from Robert Burns Academy was involved in all three, giving them an opportunity to gain insight into the importance of accurately recording and preserving our historic built environment. They also learned how to appropriately excavate and record findings of importance.
Furthermore, it was great to see so many of the community join us during our Archaeological Digs to share their stories and memories of the village. We await Archaeology Scotland's final report on their findings and will share this online for all to view.
We also hope to support an additional dig in Mauchline during 2025, we'll share more details of this next year once the project and dates are confirmed.
Our Heritage App project is currently ongoing. During the last year we have attended some great workshops organised by our partners at East Ayrshire Council's Creative Minds Team and Icecream Architecture. The workshops were hosted by the Mauchline Heritage App group at Robert Burns Academy .
The group discussed potential app themes, content, branding and functionality. It was great to hear the groups ideas, visions and overall enthusiasm for the project.
Thank you also to our partners at the Barony Campus, Icecream Architecture, Ayrshire College and East Ayrshire Council's Creative Minds Team, East Ayrshire for their ongoing support.
We cannot wait to see our App become a reality and complete the Mauchline Heritage Trail within it.
More to be revealed soon!

As part of our public realm improvements we plan to replace some of the street signage around our Conservation Area.
These signs are cast to create the appearance of a traditional cast iron sign. Examples of these styles of signs can be seen in historic pictures of the village and there is still three historic signs still in situ around the village, can you find them?
The first phase of signs have been installed with the second phase to be installed following the completion of their grant aided works.

Due to the success of our last summer school in 2023, we were happy to support a second instalment in 2024.
This year the young people of Mauchline took part in Parkour, Dance and Music Making. Learning about their local heritage focused around the Ballochmyle Sandstone Quarry.
The Summer School was funded by Mauchline CARS and delivered by East Ayrshire Council's Creative Minds Team.
We had a great time attending the celebration show and would like to take this opportunity to thank all involved, we hope the young people enjoyed the event and learned interesting facts about Mauchline's history.
