Further updates to DVSA’s roadside prohibition notification process

We’re making further changes to the tool used by DVSA roadside enforcement colleagues to record vehicle encounters.

Since 18 June 2025, prohibition notifications have been emailed to you if your Operator Licence has an email address recorded. Then on 17 July, we changed the format of the email to include a link to download the prohibition notice.

What’s new?

From 7 August, if your Operator Licence has an email address recorded, you’ll receive prohibition clearance notices by email instead of by post.

The email will include all the information usually included in the notice. This update will make the process more efficient and environmentally friendly.

What if I don’t have a recorded email address?

Operators without an email address recorded will continue receiving prohibition notifications and clearance notices to their business address by post.

What happens next?

We will let you know about any other improvements.
