Changes to the code of practice for enforcement weighing of vehicles

The code of practice is used by DVSA examiners carrying out weight checks using the following methods:

  • single and multi-plate weighbridges
  • other non-dynamic weighing equipment
  • dynamic axle weighers (including in static mode)
  • portable weighpads

We've made changes to the code in a number of areas.

They are:

  • updates to legislative references
  • the introduction of self-verification as an option for weighbridge sites - already widely used across other sectors of industry
  • changes to allow an authorised enforcement examiner to measure the suitability of a temporary site for weighing using portable weighpads
