A new way to replace your MOT centre authorisation certificate

A new way to replace your MOT centre authorisation certificate (VT9)

We are changing the way you can replace your VT9 certificate if you've lost or damaged the original.

You must display a current VT9 certificate on the public noticeboard at your MOT centre.

You can now apply for a free replacement certificate online.

What you need to apply

To apply for your MOT centre VT9 certificate, you need:

  • the authorised examiner (AE) number
  • the MOT centre number – sometimes called the MOT testing station ID or vehicle testing station (VTS) number

Changing your details on your VT9 certificate

You cannot use this service to change your details on your VT9 certificate. Apply to make a change to your MOT centre instead. You’ll then be sent a new VT9 certificate with the new details.
