Changes to decelerometer calibration requirements at Authorised Testing Facilities (ATFs) and Privately Owned Test Facilities (POTFs)

From 1 April 2023, DVSA will be changing the requirements for the calibration of decelerometer brake testing equipment.

Decelerometer calibration

You will need to arrange for decelerometers to be calibrated every year.

This is a change from the current two-year cycle.

Decelerometer calibration certificates issued before 1 April 2023 will be acceptable until they expire.

You will need to ensure this equipment is calibrated annually once the certificate has expired.

Further changes

We will be making further changes to the rules around equipment calibration shortly.
