Industrial action affecting some DVSA vehicle services during March 2023

Members of the Prospect Union will join others striking on Wednesday 15 March over Civil Service wide concerns.

This is likely to affect some of DVSA’s vehicle services including heavy vehicle MOTs. We will continue to carry out vital roadside checks and will also be monitoring risks to road safety remotely.

Not all DVSA staff are Prospect members and, even if they are, they might choose not to take part in the action. So we will not know which staff are participating until the action takes place.

Annual test (MOT) bookings

Please continue to attend your annual test booking(s) as planned.

We are asking all Authorised Testing Facilities (ATFs) to proactively contact customers on the day if they know a test appointment will be affected on or after 15 March.

If your test appointment is affected

If your test is affected and you cannot book a new appointment please report it to DVSA. You should only contact us if both of these apply to you:

  • your MOT expires this month or has already expired
  • you have contacted your local test centres and have been unable to book a test

If you are unable to book an HGV, bus or trailer MOT you can report it to DVSA in the usual way.

Keeping checking for updates

You can find the latest information about how DVSA services are affected on our dedicated GOV.UK page. Please also keep checking your emails.
