New features added to DVSA's MOT reminders and history services

Today (Thursday 6 October) we're launching a campaign to tell motorists about the new features which are now available in our MOT reminders and MOT history services.

The improvements make it easier for motorists to:

  • view and amend their MOT reminders
  • access and print their MOT certificates

Raising awareness with motorists

We're engaging with national and trade media to draw attention to these new features.

And we'll be celebrating over 4 million sign ups to the MOT reminders service since it launched in 2017.

We'll also be posting some animations to our social media channels to tell motorists directly about the improvements.

We've put together a toolkit for MOT garages who want to share these messages with their customers.

You can access the toolkit here: https://mattersoftesting.blog.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/sites/19/2022/10/DVSA-MOT-improvements-toolkit.pdf

Encouraging motorists to sign up to MOT reminders

The campaign is also a good opportunity to talk to all motorists about the importance of getting an MOT on time, especially with 1 in 4 being late.

So we'll also be reminding them:

  • there's a higher chance of a vehicle failing the MOT if it's presented late and facing costly repairs
  • about their responsibility to ensure the vehicle remains safe to drive all year round
  • that unsafe vehicles present a danger to the driver, passengers and other road users
