The Scottish government has confirmed that the legal requirement to wear a face covering will become guidance from 18 April 2022.
Following this decision, we are reviewing the COVID-19 standard operating procedures for our vehicle approval services.
The Scottish government strongly recommends that face coverings continue to be worn in indoor public places and on public transport as members of the public are advised to carry on taking sensible precautions to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
Until the end of April 2022, you should still continue to self-isolate if you have COVID-19 symptoms and get a PCR test. You will need to make other arrangements if you or the person bringing the vehicle to test have COVID-19 symptoms.
For some appointments there are currently additional measures in place around vehicle preparation and presentation, including on vehicle ventilation.
Airing vehicles prior to and during any inspection or test remains a sensible best practice and is consistent with government guidance.
When we have finished reviewing the COVID-19 standard operating procedures, we will share the details with you if any of the measures will become part of our normal procedures.
We want to thank you for continuing to take the necessary action to help reduce the spread of COVID-19, protect our colleagues and keep your vehicles safe to drive.
We know this has been a very challenging period for everyone.
The changes we have made to our services have had an impact for personal and business users but you have supported our colleagues and responded positively to the changes.
