On 21 February 2022, the government confirmed that all COVID-19 restrictions in place in England will end on 24 February 2022.
Following the government’s decision, we are reviewing the COVID-19 standard operating procedures for our vehicle approval services.
Some of our specialist vehicle standards assessors may choose to wear a face covering. If they do so, we ask you to respect and support their personal choice when you or anyone representing you is interacting with them. DVSA colleagues will also continue to follow the relevant rules of any site they are working in.
There will be no legal requirement to self-isolate if you have COVID-19 from 24 February 2022, but government guidance is still to avoid contact with people if you test positive for COVID-19. We encourage you to make alternative arrangements if the person presenting the vehicle feels unwell for any reason.
For some appointments, there are currently additional measures in place around vehicle preparation and presentation, including on vehicle ventilation.
Airing vehicles prior to and during any inspection or test remains a sensible best practice and is consistent with government guidance.
When we have finished reviewing the COVID-19 standard operating procedures, we will share the details with you if any of the measures will become part of our normal procedures.
The government is encouraging people to continue to follow public health advice to minimise the chance of catching COVID-19 and help protect everyone.
This includes wearing a face covering in crowded and enclosed spaces where you come into contact with people you don’t normally meet, and washing your hands.
You can find further advice about the removal of domestic restrictions in England on GOV.UK.
We want to thank you for continuing to take the necessary action to help reduce the spread of COVID, protect our colleagues and keep your vehicles safe to drive.
We know this has been a very challenging period for everyone.
The changes we have made to our services have had an impact for personal and business users but you have supported our colleagues and responded positively to the changes.
